Our Weekend in Pictures

I wasn't going to do a 'Weekend in Pictures' post because our weekend turned out to be quite a hot mess, but I have a few cute ones that I figured I would share.

To recap the week we had leading up to our disastrous weekend... Abigail was sent home from daycare with a 103 fever on Tuesday. She wasn't sick (or so we thought) and figured it was probably teething and/or a fluke. The rule with daycare is if you have a fever you either have to stay home for 24 hours or come back the next day with a doctors note. I couldn't get her in to the doctor so late in the day SO I stayed home with her Tuesday afternoon and all day Wednesday. Working full time from home + watching/playing/entertaining a 5 month old is a sure fire way to get me sent to the loony bin but we had SO much fun together.

Thursday morning (the day she was in the clear to go back to daycare, since she wasn't sick and hadn't had a fever since they called me and told me to come pick her up), we got ready for school and work and headed on our way. When I walked into the daycare to drop her off her teachers handed me a piece of paper about an illness going around the class and that in order for A to come back, she would need a doctor's note. Errrr! So I hustled to the pediatrician, beat out the herd of wild animals moms  who had the same idea as me and was first in line to be seen. Turns out, she didn't have what was going around in the class, but she DID have another virus going around, which would require her to be kept out of daycare the rest of the week. I know what you're thinking and yes, I contemplated a case of beer at 8:30 am.

Fast forward to Friday afternoon... Billy, my family and I had grand plans of going to a Halloween party that we look forward to and go to every year. We had a babysitter coming over and everything. Around 3 pm I started to feel like I was hit by a truck. Out of no where I started to feel SO sick. Body aches, sore throat.. I took a nap, popped some aspirin and decided to get ready for the party and pushed through it. 10 minutes and ZERO beers later, I decided I just couldn't hang and had to call it a night.

The only picture we managed to get together before I turned into Cinderella and hightailed my ass on home.

Saturday morning I woke feeling even worse. I couldn't move without being in pain. I decided that I needed to go to the doctor and get tested for the flu (yes, that's how bad I felt) even though I had gotten the flu shot about a week and a half ago. I tested negative (whew!) and was told I just had a bad cold. It ruined our Halloween Party plans for Saturday night as well, which I am so sad about. It is Monday now and I am finally feeling a bit better. Abigail is back at daycare & our house is being sanitized as I type.

In our week together, I did manage to decorate dress my girl up in some pretty festive outfits and take adorable pictures.. I'll leave you with a few of those ; )

Cheers Here's to hoping the week is MUCH better than the weekend for the Huff House!

So What, Wednesday!

Back again and linking up with Life After I Dew for So What Wednesdays!

| I made my own pumpkin patch in my backyard because I am so mad about our previous trip to a real pumpkin patch & I am kind of in love with it.

| Only two of the 50 pictures I took turned out cute. I only needed one ;)

| My house may get egged tonight by the 2 kids who I yelled at for riding their dirtbikes entirely too close to my house/backyard.

| I get anxiety over how many shows are on my DVR that I need to watch.

| I am dreaming of the day we can move out of Florida. I am SO over this weather. It is making me SO grumpy.

| I feel like a super mama because I made Abigail food for dinner last night and she actually ate it. Banana and quinoa, win!

What are YOU saying SO WHAT to today?!

Four & Five Month Favorites

Well, well... It's been a while since I have done one of my favorites posts. We are almost to the 5 and a half month mark (what?!) & there are a few key things that have helped keep us sane us through.

B. One Two Squeeze Blocks: Abigail LOVES these things. She loves to eat them, talk to them & throw them at my face when she gets pissed. They are perfectly squishy & mama loves the colors. I swear if I took a picture of parts of my house right now, you would find these EVERYWHERE. It's also helping with her crawling. I put them out in front of her to where she can't reach and she goes after them.
Munchkin Waterproof Liners: Funny story about these bad boys...By now we all know my child loves to blowout. Pretty much every morning. Poop. Everywhere. Which results in either Billy or myself cleaning up her car seat and being late for work. My mom came through in a BIG way and scooped these liners up for us. We lay one underneath Abs every morning and cleanup has been a breeze. They are washable and don't stain. So, if you've got yourself a pooper, pick up some of these!
Sophie the Giraffe: Now that A can get a good grip on things, teethers have been a lifesaver. Her poor little gums just kill her. I'm anxiously awaiting the first tooth to pop through, but in the meantime Sophie (which is also our dogs name, weird.) hangs out in her mouth.

Ella's Kitchen Organic Baby Food: I had such high hopes for being one of those mom's who had her shit together enough to be able to make my child's food. All organic, all natural. It didn't happen. I'm lucky if I walk out the door in the morning with my kid shoes on. When we started on solids, I made a batch of homemade sweet potatoes. My sweet, amazing child screamed bloody murder spitting them out eating them. So, I bought these little pouches of food. She goes BANANAS for them! They have been a lifesaver!
Tadpoles Playmat: We live in a house with ALL tile. We knew that once the babe starting to be mobile we would have to get some sort of play mat. We love this one. It is foamy, but still sturdy and it's big (16ft). it is easy to assemble or put out of sight if you need it to be. And I love that they offered a neutral color, instead of the pinks and blues with fairies and superheros that you usually see (gag.).
The First Years Sound Machine: OK, I know this has been on an update before but I had to include it again. This is seriously probably the best baby item we have. Abs sleeps with it every. single. night. It plays throughout the whole night, instead of ones that are on a timer and I swear it helps her stay asleep for those 13 glorious hours. And if we are out and we know we need to put her to bed wherever we are, we just throw it in the diaper bag and she passes out wherever we are, as long as this baby is on. I love it!

I hope these are helpful for any of you mamas/mama to be's!

Our Weekend in Pictures

It was a really good weekend around the Huff household. Here’s a look:

These two pictures pretty much sums up my Friday night. I did in fact crush an entire bottle of Pinot Grigio & I also woke up with a hangover from hell.

He just gets me ;)

We spent our Saturday morning doing yard work… with a hangover. It was obviously a spectacular time. But thanks to our HOA for the nice letter they sent us regarding our busted lawn, it was a must.

Our morning yard work resulted in a trip to Target and Home Depot & we decided that it would be an ideal time to try and put Baby A in the shopping cart for the first time.

It was a serious win. Nailing the execution.
My little nugget is still too small. Try again next time ;)

Next on our agenda was attending a ‘Fall Festival’ at a local church. I have ZERO pictures from said ‘Fall Festival’. You might also be wondering why I keep using quotations around ‘Fall Festival’. Well, my friends… it is because I don’t consider a Fall Festival to be a place where you catch a heat stroke. I had GRAND plans to take some pumpkin patch pictures with the babe in her cute fall outfit, of which DID NOT happen because I couldn’t dress her in the outfit because it was too damn hot out! We ended up leaving after 10 minutes of me walking around pouting and deciding that I was going to make my own pumpkin patch in my backyard and take my own pictures.

Moving right along….

Saturday afternoon – post hissy fit, I cleaned, Billy cooked up some yummy finger foods and we played dress up with our baby.

I had to crank up the AC just to take this picture. I didn’t want her to overheat. (See also: I HATE FLORIDA.)

We spent Saturday evening hanging out with some fabulous friends, who cooked up an absolutely amazing dinner.
Feast your eyes on our seafood boil which contains: shrimp, mussels, crab legs, corn, potatoes & kielbasa! (which I had absolutely NO part in making... Heather, you are ahhhmazing!)

I tried my first mussel - & liked it!

Billy swung in a hammock - & liked it! ;)

Sunday was more yard work and a little art project for me and A-bomb.

Trying to get a 5 month old to spread her hand out on a piece of paper is a recipe for disaster. Hence the reason why it looks likea big blob of ink.

& I’ll leave you of this picture of my two loves. Which I took while I was laying on the cold tile floor. Because what feels better than a cold tile floor when you are hungover and about to vom….. NOTHING!

Happy Monday!

Ps... Looking at these pictures makes me realize how badly I need a real camera. Husband??.... Parents??.... Bueller??

Friday Favorites

Well, I was planning on doing a boring old ‘Friday Favorites’ post today and then one of my favorite bloggers, Heather from Housewife Glamour decided to start a link up (which kind of makes me giddy and want to jump up and down!) for her Friday Favorites post… so here I am! Linking up with her for the first time, but definitely not the last!

Favorite #1: DIY Wreaths
Taking this one straight from the HWGlamour archives (or just a couple posts ago, whatever) I used her tutorial on a DIY Fall Wreath and made myself one last night! & I’m loving it! (Side note: it may look creepy that both of ours have an ‘H’ on them, it’s just a coincidence that both of our last names start with the same letter.)

Seriously though, this was one of the easiest crafts I have done and I love the way it turned out! If you want to take a stab at it, check out her tutorial here.
Disclaimer: I couldn't get my super glue to hold the pipe cleaners, so I taped them on. Hoping they hold up!

Who doesn't need an adorable sequined hanger?? Answer: Everyone does! This shop has easily become a new obsession.

All of her prints are only $5 right now and her hangers are only $13! I was able to stock up on 4 of her prints yesterday and cannot wait to frame them and put them up in my house. I can only share 3 of the 4 I purchased, because one of them is a Christmas present for someone in my family ;)

I also convinced my mom to buy me the necklace holder hanger for Christmas. Downfall: She’s actually making me wait until Christmas to have it!!!

Now all I need is a regular sequined hanger (gold, of course) and my collection will be complete. Until of course the shop is restocked with more amazing goodies!

Favorite #3: A sleeping baby

B & I have lucked out so much when it comes to baby girl. She is SUCH a good sleeper. I’m talking, 13ish hours a night. Every night. We put her to bed at 7pm (sometimes before if she is really cranky) and she doesn't wake up until we wake up… which is about 7:15 on the weekdays and around 8 on the weekends. At only 5 months old, I would say that is a serious WIN!

This picture was snapped last night. She is battling a SERIOUS cold & was so wiped out. I put her down to start her bath and get her bottle ready for bedtime and I popped my head around the corner when I couldn't hear her and found her like this. Another night of Vick’s all over her body and her humidifier and we should be back in business.

Favorite #4:  Jane! is quickly becoming one of my favorite places to shop online. They are described as a ‘Daily Boutique Deal’ website, which means that every day that have a new batch of cute finds from boutiques from all over at SERIOUSLY discounted prices. Remember the leggings that I was gushing about here? I found the boutique from and now I own 3 pairs!

Favorite #5: Halloween.

Oh, I just love Halloween. It actually isn't my favorite holiday, but it definitely gets the mood going for my favorite time of year! I love being able to decorate my house & seeing all of the costumes for the little kids! I’m not going all out for A’s Halloween costume this year since she goes to bed at 7pm and can’t walk yet… but mark my words, next year… it’s on! I’m also pretty excited about mine and B’s costumes… stay tuned for that ;)

Making these is a necessity!

Want to share some of your favorite things on this Friday? Link up with Heather and join the party!

Have a great weekend!

So What! Wednesday.

Today I am linking up with Shannon over at Life After I Dew for So what Wednesdays!

These are things that I am saying ‘so what’ to today;

So what if I:

- Added something to my ‘to do’ list even though I knew I had already completed it, just so I could cross something off.

- Looked down at my hands and realized how gross my nails were, so I went and bought an $8 pair of PRESS ON nails (yes, with glue) and stuck them on my fingers and have NEVER received more compliments on how my nails look. Best idea ever?! Yes, yes it was.

- Carrying around a Ziploc baggie in my purse full of said nails as replacements (in case when one pops off).

- Bought a new, pretty water bottle in an effort to start drinking more water. I needed a little inspiration! So far, its working like a champ!

- Asked Billy this morning if I could ‘sleep in’ on Saturday. Aka, he wakes up with A-bomb at 7:30am and I sleep for a little longer. (Spoiler alert: he said yes! Best husband ever!)

- Needed to bring breakfast to work this morning for a potluck & I took the easy way out and put cut up fruit on kabobs and stuck donut holes on the ends. They were a hit and I have NONE to take home!

- Gave a mom at daycare a dirty look when she pulled into the parking spot next to me, while I was trying to get A out of the car and her kid slammed her door into my door and didn’t even apologize. I also secretly wished she had a bad day after that.

- Brought my lunch to work today, but decided I wanted Publix Sushi instead.

What are you saying ‘So what’ to today??!

Happy Wednesday, friends!

One of those days...

Yesterday was one of those days.

When I started blogging after baby, I knew that I wanted to hold nothing back. Half for entertainment, half to never forget it. So I really feel the need to tell the story of our disaster of a day, yesterday.

Abigail is a really happy baby so when she has an off day it's pretty close to my definition of hell.

A was really cranky all day yesterday. Manageable, but cranky. And then 6pm hit. She started screaming bloody murder. Screams I have never heard before. Screams so loud that I was checking for blood and to make sure all of her limbs were still attached. No matter what I did, she screamed. 30 minutes of this and my head was about to explode. She was crying, I was crying. I felt helpless. I tried burping her, pumping her legs, I knew she wasn't hungry, she would hulk smash her pacifier on the ground everytime I tried to put it in her mouth. She was not impressed with life. After about 50 minutes of screams Billy came home from work (he tried to call, but couldn't hear me because A was screaming so loud). I'm pretty sure he was terrified to walk through the door. As soon as he came in, I handed him our child and I ran to find a place where I couldn't hear the screams. So there I went. Walked into our bedroom, shut the door. Into our bathroom, shut the door. Into our closet, shut the door. And there I laid, on our closet floor. Crying. Googling what could possibly be wrong with our child. My conclusion was gas. So I got my sobbing ass up off the floor and gave Abigail some gas drops. It was about 7pm now so we got her ready for bed. She took her bath (& screamed) and we got pjs on her as quickly as possible. I stood her up and BAM! She let out the nastiest, manliest beer burp & almost immediately started laughing and talking and smiling.

My life. It's one for the books.

Billy put her to bed. I immediately left and went grocery shopping. I came home with a box of donuts and an economy sized bottle of wine.

Mama needs a vacation.

Loving & Loathing; Saturday Edition

Loving; having a 5 month old! This is definitely the most fun we have had with our baby girl so far. This age is a blast. She is developing THE BEST personality. We are loving trying new foods with her and her belly laughs make our hearts explode. She still sleeps like a champ (13 hours last night!), she is sitting up on her own (with a few face plants every now and then), is starting to crawl & still blowing out like a pro every morning on our way to daycare. I'm officially the mother who brings her kid in to school in only a diaper and dresses her there after she shits everywhere. Why waste an outfit for her to only wear it for 20 minutes. We have also resorted to putting towels down on her car seat after we have had to clean it 3 times this week after dropping her off.  Can't wait to tell her these stories when she is older.

Loathing; Terrible drivers. I swear, it seems like some days every single person on the road is drunk.

Loving; arm candy. I have a new obsession with bracelets. I need no less than 6 on my arm at a time. I picked up some new gold ones a few days ago and I'm in love.

Loving; my new Aztec leggings from White Plum Boutique. I ordered them online so I didn't really know what to expect. And holy comfortable batman!! These things are beyond amazing. They are so soft (but not too warm), just enough stretch and not even the smallest bit see-through. Not to mention, their designs are THE cutest! I can't wait to stock up on more!

Loathing; The fact that I can't find any pumpkin patches to go to yet around here. Where are they?! It's October 12th people! This is prime pumpkin patch time! I need pictures of my child surrounded by pumpkins! I'm sure it has something to do with the fact that it is still approximately 157 degrees on the daily here in Flori-DUH. Which we can go ahead and add to my loathing list. But I hate it so much, that I'm not going to dignify it with its own paragraph. Take that!

& I'll leave you with some pictures of my girl.

It was important for me to put this one in the blog to remember this outfit. I love it so much. And now it is shit stained because my cute, adorable, disgusting daughter decided to have the biggest blowout of her life 20 minutes after getting dressed.  #shegetsitfromherDADDY

& an outtake from her 5 month 'photoshoot'. I'm obsessed with her little baby legs in these leggings. Dead.

Happy Saturday, friends. Hope it's the best

Sunday Rambles.

Is there anything worse than a sick child? Nope!

Wednesday night, we put Abigail to bed like normal. After about 15 minutes of watching her on the monitor and her not getting comfy in her crib, I went into her room to soothe her a bit. When I bent down to rub her back, I noticed that she was wet. I figured she had spit up a little bit. I picked her up and saw that she was SOAKED. Covered in vomit. Ugh. I called Billy in, laid her down on her changing pad and started to take off her PJ's. Abigail looked up at me, smiled and then PROJECTILE VOMITED ACROSS HER ROOM. It was everywhere. She started choking because it came out of her nose so like a panicked first time mom, I started beating her back to get her to stop choking, which I'm pretty sure just made things worse. Once she started crying, I scooped her up, puke and all and held her. Billy started a bath and as soon as it was ready, we put her in. She was splashing and smiling like nothing happened. We got her dressed and changed her sheet on her crib and put her back to bed. About 10 minutes later, I went into check on her and she had thrown up all over herself again. Lovely. With no more clean sheets (note to self: buy more sheets), Billy started a load of laundry and I took my girl out to the couch to snuggle. She quickly fell asleep on my chest and everything seemed fine. An hour later, she lifted her head up, gave me a sweet smile and BAM, threw up all over me. That was about the time where I told Billy that she would be sleeping in our bed for the first time. I couldn't imagine letting her sleep in her room, knowing that she kept waking up and choking on her own vomit. Once we all got situated, Abigail fell asleep pretty quickly. And then proceeded to wake up 5 times that night, gagging and puking everywhere.  By the time morning had hit, she woke up and her clothes looked like she had gotten into a fight with a yellow highlighter. I knew she felt horrible and it just broke my heart. We put her on a Pedialite and Probiotic diet and after a few days, she was back to normal. Just a stomach bug. I'm in the market for a lifetime supply of bubble wrap, if anyone knows of a good hookup.

We kept her out of daycare for a few days, which worked out well since Billy has been on vacation this week (read: jealous). He was able to spent some time with her before he left for his boys weekend in Clearwater beach (read: even more jealous). I've been spoiled by having him home so much. He has cooked a few amazing dinners and gotten some things done around the house (helped me hang spider webs on our front door).

We are so excited for him to get back from the beach though!! His girls missed him. (And mama needs her sanity back!)

I'll leave you with an iPhone picture dump from the last few days.

Homemade meatballs over mashed potatoes and gravy. Which we didn't get to finish because puke-fest 2013 started mid bite.

I started a list of things to pack to spend the night at my parents house this weekend, Billy added to the list.... Good news, we didn't forget to pack her!

We added spider webs & spiders to our front door decor. I'm kind of loving it. I'm also kind of loving my monogrammed pumpkin creation :)

Worked from  home for 2 days this week. If you have to have pink eye, this is the way to do it.

Our girl, mid yawn. Probably before she vomited again.

Girls night in with my mama. I may or may not have finished an entire bottle of wine. By myself.

We are officially on the move. Which means I am officially panicking over all of the things those little hands could get on. Time to baby proof!

Another delicious meal made by Billy. He recreated one of our favorite meals from a local Asian restaurant. Spicy Udon noodles with chicken.

Hope your weekend was filled with less vomit than mine! #beerme.

Happy October 1st!

I am so excited that it is finally October. October means the start of all things holiday's and the Huff household could NOT be more excited!!

We put out all of our pumpkins on the front porch last night, sure to attract more bears. But somethings are just worth it.... #amiright?

We are starting our October a bit off, with Abigail giving her mama (read: ME) a not so pleasant sickness, which is resulting in my working from home today. And it's a good thing, because I (and the husband who is on vacation all week, yippee!) was home to wash out her car seat after dropping her off at school this morning. Why did we need to wash her car seat after dropping her off you ask? Because her jackass mother (read: ME) put her diaper on crooked this morning, resulting in the BIGGEST blowout of the century. It was EVERYWHERE. We officially have 'that' child in daycare. You know, the one who always gets dropped off with shit running up her back. Good thing she's so damn cute ;)

I didn't do a 'Weekend in Pictures' post this week, because our weekend was pretty uneventful. But I will leave you with a few cute ones.
She was SO excited to be facing front for the first time in her stroller. We went for a walk and she got to see a whole new world ;)

She MIGHT be the happiest baby in the world. I chalk it up to her 'owing' me, for making me throw up everyday for 9 months.

Mama duties; complete. It was a wine and junk TV kind of Sunday night.

Hope you all have a festively fabulous October 1st. Get out the Pumpkin Beer and fire pits (who am I kidding, it's still 100 degrees here in Florida), it's time to party!
