My 2013 in ONE Picture.

2013.
What. A. Year.

I wish I could say it was so difficult picking out a picture that perfectly described 365 days of our lives. But it wasn't. And it probably won't come as a shock to any of you.

This year, our hearts became so full. So full of love, happiness & a little less sleep. Our house became full of baby cries and the smell of poop diapers. And I wouldn't change a single second of it.

This is what 2013 means to me;

Our first picture as a family of three.
In this very moment, our lives changed forever.

Watching our baby girl grow up is the most magical thing we have ever experienced. Who knew that a little hand learning how to wave 'hi' and 'bye' could make us look at each other like 'hey, we made that. pretty cool, huh?' and just smile.

We love you baby girl. Thank you for making our 2013 the best year of our lives. We can't wait for 2014!

& thank you to Jena over at Recently Roached for this super fabulous link-up!

christmas with the huffs.

hi, friends!

I had every intention of visiting you a few days ago, but to say things have been a bit hectic would be an understatement. Remember when I wrote this post where I told you I had food poisoning and it was basically the worst day of my life (hiiiii, i'm dramatic)!? Well... It wasn't food poisoning. It was the stomach flu. & my entire family found out the hard way. I was sick Christmas Eve Eve and Christmas Eve. Billy was sick all Christmas day & from there my family just started dropping like flies. One after another everyone was getting sick -- Merry Christmas, love the huffs. Oops!

I'm happy to finally say that after 3 cans of lysol and 14 gatorades, our house seems to be in the clear. A never got it... still not sure how that happened, but I'm not complaining. We have spent entirely too much time in our PJs & are ready to get some fresh air!

Moving on...

I was planning on doing a post about what we all got for Christmas but then my mom Santa decided to buy every. single. thing. that was ever put on the earth and it all became way too much. Thanks, Santa! ;) We all walked away with smiles on our faces (you know, in between puking) & trunks full of loot. Abigail now owns every toy on the shelves of target & has a wardrobe bigger than mine.

& because it wouldn't be fun for the baby blog to not talk about alcohol, on our drive home Christmas night, Billy made the realization that it was our first Christmas without drinking since we turned 18  21. Thanks stomach flu. What a buzz kill.

We were able to manage one family picture on Christmas in our matching-ish PJ's.

I spy my most favorite Christmas present, ever ;)

(this picture does not look as blurry on my computer as it does once it is uploaded to the blog. sorry!)

We've been spending our Christmas break cleaning & organizing the house, hitting up the 70% off sales at Target & playing arts and crafts.

Here is one of the creations I made yesterday for A's room. I just took a blank canvas and used blue painter tape and made a bunch of sections. Painted them all fun colors, let it dry and then took off the tape. It's not perfect, but I kind of love it!

the tree is put away & the festive new years straws have replaced the christmas ones. it's almost 2014! let's make it count!

my nightmare before Christmas.

Well, this isn't how I was expecting to spend my Christmas Eve!

Late last night, (Christmas Eve, Eve) I started to really feel terrible. Upset stomach, fever...whole nine yards. As soon as I rested my head on my pillow, I knew what was about to happen. My night consisted of getting about 1 hour of sleep, throwing up every 10-15 minutes (18 times) & getting so weak that apparently I told Billy I was going to pass out and then I fell to the ground.

That my friends, is food poisoning

I 'woke up' (is it still waking up if you never went to sleep) on the couch at about 7:30am still throwing up & craving the biggest glass of ice water I could find & realized this was NOT going to be the festive Christmas Eve I had hoped for. (Unless you count the red Gatorade Billy bought me so that my puke would be festive, so sweet that guy.)

It's one o'clock in the afternoon & my ass is still plopped priscisley in the same spot it was at 5am. The only thing I have been able to hold down is a portion of that red Gatorade and I can't find a Christmas movie on TV worth watching.

Weight loss was on my new year resolution list but I wasn't planning on starting this early, people!!

I'm so hoping that I start to feel better by tonight, SANTA IS COMING!!!

giveaway winner.

Merry Christmas Eve Eve!!

It's going to be another short one for me today. I'm knee deep in ribbon & scotch tape and trying to figure out who the hell finds joy in wrapping presents. I really don't like it. I'd rather drink vodka and watch Home Alone forty two times in my Christmas pjs, thank you very much!

I wanted to say thank you to everyone who entered my very first giveaway! I had a blast reading your comments and tweets and I'm so glad that you are all here reading what I have to say!

& now for our winner;

Jenn C. For liking Baby A and Mama J on Facebook!
Congrats Jenn!
(& incase anyone was curious or doesn't know how rafflecopter works... The winner is completely auto generated. I have ZERO say in who wins.)

This definitely won't be the last giveaway, it was too much fun! ;)

I'll be back after Christmas with some fun new posts (including all of our Christmas loot!!)

Thank you all again so much!!

Holiday Festivness.

Goodness, I love Christmas! Seriously, there is no better time! I'm already starting to get sad that the holiday season is almost over. I think I slide into a deep depression the day after Christmas. Can't we just celebrate all year long?!

I wanted to share some of the festive things we have had going around over here the past couple of weeks. I've been busy making teacher gifts, decorating the house, making ugly sweaters and putting in my fake hair for christmas parties ;) It's been so busy and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Lets start with taking a peek at quite possibly the most magical picture to ever live on the internet.

she kills me.

we had an ugly sweater contest in my department at work. i won. ;)

this is the moment that all of the billions of dollars we spend to send my daughter to daycare was worth it. her first craft. seriously, i could die.

we had a few chilly-ish mornings here in florida last week. which meant breakfast was had with snuggles & lots of blankets.

work christmas party. this picture makes me so happy for so many reasons.

nathan had his Christmas celebration at school and they did a play called the 'OK Corral'. he nailed his part and had everyone laughing.

the next few pictures are just ones i snapped of some of the decorations around the house. You may have seen some of them before, but most are new.

i added some garland and a festive pillow to A's teepee & it's officially christmas style.

we did a small tree in the dining room this year with all of our 'fun' ornaments on it. the ones we have collected over the years.

after i came home from Target with this purchase, billy demanded that i give him my debit card. i was fired. he doesn't get it. i think its adorable! and it is is currently holding all of my necklaces from it's antlers ;)

the presents are getting out of hand. santa hasn't even visited yet! ;)

i strung some twine across a hallway and held it up with some washi tape and used clothespins to hang our christmas cards. Billy hates it, i love it. it could have something to do with the fact that he is 6'5 & hits his head on it, constantly.

TEACHER GIFTS; i was struggling with what to do because Abigail JUST switched to the 'big girl' room this past Monday. I wanted to give something to the teachers who had her for the past 6 months but also wanted to do something for her new teachers, which left me with SEVEN gifts. Yikes.
So, what we have here is donuts and munchkins in clear plastic treat bags tied together with some twine. I printed out these labels and attached them to some green card stock. easy, affordable & cute ;)

I hope your holiday season is shaping up to be a fabulous one filled with enough treats and booze to get you through all of those family gatherings ;)

In celebration of Mr. Santa Man and as a HUGE thank you to everyone who reads, enjoys and gives me feedback on this little ole blog, I'm doing a little itty bitty giveaway. If you follow me on Facebook (which you should, duh.) I promised a giveaway once we reached 200 'likes'. We did and now I'm delivering!

Isn't that how everyone shops?! No? Sorry husband!

What it includes:

Red paper straws
EOS lip balm in Strawberry Sorbet
Festively fun socks
Red and Silver glitter nail polishes
Red Velvet Cupcake candle
& it will all be wrapped up in a mason jar, because I'm obsessed with them and felt like you should have one too ;)

Blogmopolitan Quiz & all the random things.

Happy Friday, loves!

Today's post is going to be all over the place. A little bit of fun, a little bit of serious & a whole lot of cute (showing you more Abigail Christmas photos, duh.)!

& for our serious & FUN! topic of the day....

My cousin Heidi is being a total badass and has a trip planned to Mentawai in 2014. Mentawai is a small village in Indonesia that lacks basic things we all need to survive (basic hygiene skills, clean water, nutritious foods, etc.). Why am I telling you this you ask? Because she needs help getting there! She has set up a GoFundMe site which details her trip a little more than I have and on there, there is an option to donate to her trip. If you are interested in helping her get there & helping change the lives of so many people who so desperately need it, click here

& now, I present to you my Blogmopolitan Quiz courtesy of Erin @ Two Thirds Hazel.

As I was about to send a text message today, I took a peek at my recently used emojis and it gave me a chuckle. Please note, 75% of them are food related.

Last week, I picked Abigail up from daycare and they told me that she has met Santa that day. Apparently, they forgot to tell the infant room that Santa was coming for pictures so naturally Abigail was wearing a onsie that didn't fit her chunk body and no pants (it was laundry day people, stop judging me). They told me that she was NOT a fan of the white haired man and that they snapped a few pictures that I would be able to see in a few days.

I give you.... Abigail's 1st Santa encounter.

i. die.

& one more photo because I just can't get enough. Some of you may have already seen this on Facebook, but if not...

I hope your weekend is filled with Christmas movies, twinkling lights & spiked egg nog!
Cheers, dears!

7 months old & a photoshoot

I don't even know how it is possible that we are the parents of a 7 month old. I know I say this every month, but this has been our favorite by far!

Abigail has got to be the happiest, most fun baby ever. She is ALWAYS smiling (unless she is pooping) & laughing.

It seems like she went from thinking about wanting to crawl to crawling faster than we can keep up with her, overnight.

She stands and pulls herself up on everything she can possibly get her hands on. Chairs, tables, legs, christmas trees.

She is still sleeping 12+ hours a night and we know how lucky we are. 7pm is bedtime, every night. And we usually have to wake her up around 7am every morning to get ready for school.

She rarely naps at daycare but is still a pretty good napper at home. Except on Sundays. Homegirl already knows all about Sunday Funday. She doesn't EVER want to miss it.

Taking a photo for her 7 month update turned into a bit of a photo shoot. I was getting so many cute shots that I couldn't stop snapping away. These are some of my favorites.

(peek-a-boo mama.)

(the side eye kills me.)

i wanted to end by saying thank you to everyone who takes time out of their day to come here and read all about our lives. i love writing and i love hearing from you all! being told that you like reading what i have to write means the world to me!

happy hump day, friends ;)

Friday Favorites.

one// a sweet husband.
i have to give Billy props for being a totally awesome husband last night. he had to work unusually late, which meant it was just me and the kiddo kicking it by ourselves. when i walked through the door from work/daycare, the house smelled particularly delicious. b had made homemade meatballs which were cooking in the crock pot with a note telling me there was a pan of broccoli in the fridge just waiting for me to pop in the oven. so sweet. i die.

two// lola.
if you read my post from tuesday, you know ALL about Lola, the new baby in our house. i'm still trying to figure out how to use her, but i am in love. side note: we had her set up in a spare bedroom we use as a game room/office but decided that i liked it better where i can be social with the family while i'm working. so (surprise husband!) i moved it out into our living room/kitchen which has a built in. i was originally using it as a bar (shocker.) but i'm thinking i need a bar cart in my near future. perfect solution.

three// fun prints.
i wrote about these pearls & pastries prints when i first ordered them. here they are now hung up with some glittery washi tape. i love them so much!

four// shiny rings.
fun fact:  i get my rings inspected/cleaned every six months, religiously. seriously, i was in Jared 2 days before i went into labor, getting my rings inspected (even though they didn't even fit on my sausage fingers). i dropped these babies off on tuesday to be tighten and re-dipped and picked them up yesterday. i'm obsessed.
like my nails? here they are. buy now. thank me later.

five// decorating for christmas.
our house is officially christmas-fied. take a look at the next three pictures. this really is the best time of year.

(the small stocking is our dogs, Sophie.) ((i can't believe we have so many stockings this year. it makes my heart so happy!)

six// this kid. / holiday photos.
i know, i know. i keep teasing with little bits of Abigail's holiday photos that she took at school. i'm still trying to decide what we are doing for christmas cards this year so I haven't shared all of them yet. I will soon, i promise. but in the meantime, here is another one of my absolute favorites.
shout out to her teacher for probably doing something absolutely ridiculous to get her to smile this big :)

Have a great weekend kids!
& thank you to Heather at Housewife Glamour for another week of Friday Favorites!

new baby!

Are you crazy?! NO, I am NOT pregnant! ;)

BUT, we do have a new baby in our house. & I have named her Lola. We purchased her on Cyber Monday and couldn't be more thrilled to have her added to the Huff Family.

Everyone.... Meet Lola;

She's the beauty in black & silver. She is our new iMac. And she is our new love.

Could I be any more dramatic?!

Now, let me just say that we have never owned a Mac before (assuming iPhones & iPads don't count) so it is taking some getting used to. Any tips or tricks would be much appreciated.

So, what does Lola mean for you? Well, it means more posts, better pictures and fun designs on the blog.
I've been working from my phone/iPad/crappy, barely works, slow as all hell laptop this whole time. So  my creativity has been limited. But those days are over!

& i'll leave you with a sneak peak of one of Abigail's holiday photos she had taken at school. And I must say, for school photos and $20 they turned out pretty damn cute. I'll be back tomorrow with the whole batch of them plus some that I took of her.. but in the meantime, LOOK AT MY CHILD PEOPLE! I die.....

Happy Wednesday!

Weekend Recap.

The dust has settled and the wishbone has been cracked in half. Thanksgiving is officially over and it will be Christmas posts and holiday cheer on this ole blog for the next 30 days. Get pumped, people!

Before that, I wanted to recap my semi, not so exciting weekend. We didn't do much except Saturday night, the 3 mama's in my family took a girls night out and went to dinner & a concert. Much needed.

Here's a look into my weekend:

You are looking at the extent of my black Friday shopping. This cup and I had some deep, romantic quality time on Friday morning. You see, I had the day off. Daycare was open. So like the mother of the year I clearly am, I brought my child to school and sat my happy ass on the couch all day. OK, not all day. I decorated for Christmas and did 14 loads of dishes from Thanksgiving. It was a magical day off but I couldn't have been more excited to go pick my girl up at the end of the day. #dontjudgeme

Saturday night; sister, mama and I got all dolled up in our country best to go see Lee Brice in concert at the House of Blues. We of course went for dinner and drinks beforehand. It was an absolute blast!

About halfway through the show, Lee Brice mentioned he has a special guest with him that he wanted to bring out. And then started talking about the show 'Nashville'. I don't watch the show, but everyone got pretty excited. & then out walked Charles Esten, who plays Deacon on the show.

Lee Brice :)

& here are a few things I learned from going to the House of Blues for a concert.
one// it is entirely too hot in there to be wearing a head full of weave. unfortunately learned this one the hard way.
two// apparently, girls get so drunk that they can't make it to the toilet to use the bathroom. & i'm not talking about pee here people. it happened. and it was traumatizing.
three// huge $10 beers can also double as ice packs when forced to be in a sardine can of people in an establishment that clearly turned off the air just for fun.
four// drunk girls are really annoying. & i am fully aware that i have probably been that girl too many times to count. and it makes me want to punch myself in the face.

I have no pictures from Sunday. Well, none that I am going to show to you right now ;) I decided to do a little photoshoot with A on Sunday night before Billy got home and the pictures actually turned out amazing! As soon as her school holiday photos get posted (WHERE ARE YOU?!?!) I am going to do a full photo post :)

& the last thing from me today... Once my blog's Facebook page hits 200 'likes' I will be doing a giveaway on the bloggy blog! And you don't want to miss it! So, if you are reading this and you don't currently follow me on Facebook, click here and get us closer to the giveaway!
