Blogmopolitan Round 2!

Just when I thought I had run out of ideas to write about this week, Erin comes through with her fabulous Blogmopolitan Quiz Round 2!

I'm almost embarrassed about how much this thing talks about food. And money. And food. But then I remembered if I cared what other people thought about me, I wouldn't have a blog ;)

t-5 days until this girl is on vacation. which obviously means I'm already checked out of life. I'll be lucky if I make it out of the house with shoes on today.

XOXOXO

so what, wednesday..

Stealing from Ramblings brain today and linking up with her for So What Wednesday.

Today I am saying so what if:

//my car is so overdue for an oil change and I have no interest in getting one done. I mean, SO OVER that it's almost embarrassing.

//I can't remember the last time I came to work in the morning with dry hair.

//I'm wearing legging and rain boots today and calling it a 'business appropriate' outfit.

//I haven't even thought about what we are going to take on our road trip to Virginia. And we leave in 6 days. And it's snowing.

//I was actually jealous of my dog today as I was putting her in her cage before we left the house, knowing that she got to sleep all day. #luckybitch

//I paint my nails every 3 days.

//Sometimes, I'm entertained by Abigail's crying fits. Her faces are so funny. (& I know she is fine).

//I have an urge to make a change. I don't know what kind of change. But a change. Maybe my hair? Maybe my living room furniture? I don't know, but I feel like I need it.

Hope you are all semi-surviving the week. Chin up, its almost beer:thirty!

better late than never.

I figured Tuesday night was the perfect time to finally post a weekend recap.
I'm such a slacker lately.
Could be because Abigail has been sicker than sick & I'm just mentally and physically EXHAUSTED
I ended up staying home with baby girl pretty much all week last week (minus Monday and Thursday morning when daddy kicked in). It was so nice to be able to spend so much time with her, but I was SO ready for a break by Friday.
Every diaper change was like I was killing her (thanks diaper rash chemical burn) & the constant crying from finally cutting her first two teeth and her first ear infection.
Needless to say, mama was more than ready to go bobbing for grapes in a barrel full of wine.
I'm happy to report, A is finally all healed and back at school with all her friends.

Here's a look at how our weekend went:

Abigail was anxiously awaiting the arrival of her daddy on Friday afternoon. But I had to break it to her that he wouldn't be home until after she was in bed.
So, to cure our stir craziness, we went over to nanna and grampy's house to play with the new play table that grampy set up in the playroom!

I have zero pictures from Saturday but it went a little something like this:
Wake up. Take a really long walk. Nap time. Daddy went to work. Mama and A went to the most perfect little baby shower for a very special Baby R. Surprise visit with daddy at work for dinner. BED TIME.

Moving on to Sunday:

We woke up and couldn't get out of the house fast enough. Clearly, since we were all still wearing PJs. We took the mile-ish walk to the park and swung on the swings until we were dizzy.

After Abigail passed out in the stroller on the way home, we did a successful stroller to crib transfer and enjoyed some silence in the house. Literally, I think Billy and I just sat on the couch, staring into space for about an hour. No talking, no TV. Just silence. And it was beautiful!

Naptime OVER!

We ended up heading over to my parents house for the rest of the day.

Overall, it was a great weekend and we are so happy our baby girl is feeling so much better!

And, I will leave you with one of my favorite things from today.
Even Abigail's daycare teachers know that Billy doesn't exactly dress her in the best outfits.

I dropped her off this morning and she looked ADORABLE in a little chambray dress. Her teacher assumed I dressed her and when I told her Billy did, she couldn't believe it. When I picked her up this afternoon, this was written on her daily sheet ;)

(oh, hello sick face)

the weather has been nothing short of perfect & most days, the only thing that will calm A down when she is really sick is taking a walk in her stroller or just being outside in general. we had so much fun this day.

//pinterest
no photos needed. but seriously, this is the most perfect invention of life. i seriously spend hours on it a week pinning my most favorite things that i'll never own or do.

//reminiscing on old photos & memories.
my bestest gal pal & i were exchanging blast from the past photos with each other last night and i came across the ones from when Billy proposed to me.
we were the classiest of the classiest back then. if you'll focus your attention to the drinks in both of our hands (his was nerves, mine was for my birthday) and my black bra hanging out for the world to see. still one of the most amazing, confusing & stressful days ever. emphasis on amazing. (that is a story for a different day, if anyone is interested)

a riddle for you.

Today, I have a little riddle for you...

Question: What is miserable, cranky and sick as all hell?

Answer: This girl...

I took my baby to the doctor this morning to check things out since she hasn't been herself lately. Turns out she has an ear infection, a chest infection (ok, they gave me some brocojfhdslkjfh name, but I don't know what it is or how to spell it), a diaper rash so bad they threw around the words 'chemical burn' and some bad 'stomach' issues which is causing us to have to change her diaper about every 4 seconds (read also: crapping herself every 15 minutes).

There is NOTHING worse than a sick baby. Not even your Health Savings Account debit card being declined at the pedicatrians office because you forgot that you paid for the dentist with it the day before.
You win week, you win.

Currently...

I found this cute little list on Tisse's Pieces blog yesterday morning & thought I would borrow it and change it up a bit to make it my own 'Currently' list.

Currently I am...

//MAKING: plans for our weekend. Billy will be home for most of it and this girl is PUMPED!
//COOKING: I made myself a bagel this morning. That's about my limits as far as cooking goes. I've started one too many kitchen fires. (Two to be exact.)
//DRINKING: Water. I'm still slighting hungover from a Sunday Funday that taken entirely too literal.
//READING: I read a bunch of blogs daily including this, this & this. I'm also anxiously awaiting the release of this book!
//WANTING: My new LinaJake purse/diaper bag to arrive!
//PLAYING: Candy Crush. You can judge me. I'm so close to beating the whole game, I just need it to happen so I can delete the damn thing.
//WASTING: Time before Abigail wakes up. She is taking a sick day from school and we have a busy day ahead of us (with me working in between).
//SEWING: yeah, nothing. Mama can't sew anything.
//WISHING: Our baby girl would feel better soon. She's breaking our hearts.
//ENJOYING: the numbing sensation from my mouth as I get my very first filling g the dentist. Took me 27 years and a baby to finally get one. Sad.
//WAITING: for our vacation to VA. We are so anxious to take our road trip and spend some time together and see all of our friends and family.
//LIKING: being home with my baby girl. I just wish she wasn't sick and we could have some fun.. but then I wouldn't be home with her, so..
//WONDERING: why I can't win the lotto. Life would be so much easier. I don't need a huge mega jackpot. Just enough to get by. Is that too much to ask?
//LOVING: that I've lost 9.4 pounds in 2 weeks! I'm pretty proud of myself. I have quite a few more to lose, but it's certainly a start!
//HOPING: that Billy comes home from work before Abigail craps her pants again. I've hit my nasty dirty diaper quota for the day.
//MARVELING: at the stellar drivers that reside in Florida.
//NEEDING: to tackle my to do list, which is approximately 1436 pages long.
//SMELLING: not much with this stuffy nose.
//WEARING: yoga pants and a tank with flip flops. I know, every other state in the US wants to kill me right now, but it is BEAUTIFUL outside!
//FOLLOWING: too many tv shows. I have so much 'must watch' shows. Once the Olympics are over and they all come back on, I'm turning into a hermit.
//THINKING: about Abigail's 1st birthday. I have so many ideas & I will be in full planning mode the second we get back from Virginia!
//OPENING: Pinterest. (which is NOT on my to do list)
//GIGGLING: about the noised my kid is making right now. It sounds like something between a pterodactyl and a chimpanzee.
//FEELING: pain from my tooth :( the numbness wore off & i'm a wimp of epic proportions.

a few random things.

There is no ryhme or reason to this post. But I know I have been MIA for the past week, so I decided to just fill you in on all of the not so exciting happenings that have been going on.

// we are a house full of sickos. again. Billy had a cold two weeks ago (even though he claims it was just from lack of sleep and consuming too many beverages). Now Abigail and I are sick. Colds, coughs and miserable attitudes. We are a joy to be around.

// I have to go to the dentist today for x-rays, a cleaning AND exam. With a nasty cold. How does one manage to breathe when they have a stuffy nose and 4 pairs of hands in your mouth? Stay tuned for the outcome..

// I can't remember if I mentioned it here, but our road trip to Virigina was postponed. Today would have been our first day back to Florida if we had gone when we were supposed to. We had to push it back because Billy got a promotion at work and is now the General Manager of his store! So super proud of him. But we were both bummed that we had to push back our trip. But fear not VA friends and family. We will be hitting the road on March 4th (driving through the night) to be there on the morning of March 5th. And as soon as we sleep off the drive, we will be ready to party ;) So excited to see everyone and hopefully not freeze our asses off.

// Billy and I took a little day date on Sunday while my parents watched baby girl for a few hours. Ever since we started dating (7 years ago) we always talked about wanting to go hit some balls at a batting cage, but never found one when we needed it. Sunday we finally found a place to go and had a blast for most of the time! It was all fun and games until my third round at bat and decided to hit the 'baseball' button instead of the 'softball' button and then accidentally hit the 60mph botton. First ball out and it hit me right in the hand, hitting 4 of my fingers. I screamed, dropped the bat and ran out of there faster than I could squeeze a tear out of my eye. We left after than and I'm scared to ever go back again. I was also in flipflops... don't judge.

// Sunday morning, I did my usual 'stick my finger in my childs mouth to check for a tooth' and low and behold... I FELT A TOOTH! I sqealed like a banshee and told Billy to feel it. All while Abigail was screaming and surely planning some sort of shit her pants and rub it on the walls revenge. 9 months in, the girl can walk but she hadn't gotten a tooth. I was excited!

// Speaking of walking, A is starting to get the courage to take steps on her own. Her first 'offical' steps happened a few days ago. She is really good with just standing by herself now, not holding onto anything. She has great balance. We were in her playroom and she was standing up and saw my necklace, she wanted it and took THREE steps to get it. All on her own! And then I screamed and she cried. I'm really hitting motherhood out of the park lately.

That's going to do it for me today. Time to go blow my nose for the 49th time and have my 14th cup of hot tea.

thanks for the fun linkup, Ramblings of a Suburban Mom

in nine months..

in nine months... I have grown totally and completely in love with this little girl.

// abigail is SUCH a morning person & i envy her for that. she is in the BEST mood every morning. even if she has a diaper full of poop ;)
// she loves school. she has the best time everyday and that makes me so happy.
// i pick her up everyday from school at 5:15pm. & everyday at 5:20pm she falls asleep in the car. she sleeps until we get home which is usually about 5:45pm.
//we successfully cut back on a bottle this month. now she only has 4 - 6oz. bottles a day.
// she is eating 2 full meals a day. breakfast and lunch. at school. she is on their full menu (except for the one year foods; eggs, honey etc..)
//kid loves to EAT.
//we switched bedtime from 7pm to 6:30pm because we figured out that if she goes to bed earlier, she sleeps in later. I know that doesn't make ANY sense. but its the truth. her early bedtime makes us sad, because we want to keep her up and play with her, but its better for everyone when she gets a full 13 hours of sleep.
// yes, she is still sleeping 13+ hours a night and we consider ourselves SO lucky. we contribute a lot of that to the routine we set for her around 5 weeks. she is THE BEST child and we know our next one will be batshit crazy.
// she DOES NOT like avocado. won't eat it. but that's about the only food she won't eat.
// her personality shines through more and more everyday.

& to show that it's not always rainbows and butterflies when trying to get a picture of her...
the outtakes...

homegirl was bouncing up and down like a mad woman at 6:30am. she was having a blast.

& hated that headband. So we switched it out ;)

mama & daddy love you, baby girl! happy nine month birthday!

i'm a thief.

i found this survey on housewife glamour's blog and thought it would be fun to fill it out.
so i stole it! ;)
I know there are a few of you out there that don't know everything about me yet. & you are just dying to know.
so much sarcasm for a tuesday, huh?

1// Were you named after anyone? Not that I know of or have ever been told. Mom, care to chime in?
2// When was the last time you cried? I think I shed a tear over one of the Super Bowl commercials. #drunktears
3// Do you like your handwriting? I do actually. I've started experimenting with different calligraphy and I like it even more now. It's always changing though.
4// What is your favorite lunch meat? Turkey. But I don't eat a lot of it. Is bacon a lunch meat? I choose bacon!
5// Do you have kids? Have you read the name of my blog? ;)

6// If you were another person, would you be friends with you? Yes! I consider myself a really good friend (to the people who deserve my time) and I pride myself on that. I would do anything for my best friend.
7// Do you use sarcasm a lot? Uhhh, I think the first paragraph of this post answers this question loud and clear. Ha!
8// Do you still have your tonsils? Sure do! & the thought of having them removed scares the shit out of me.
9// Would you bungee jump? The 25 year old version of me would have said HELL YES! But the 27 mama version of me just typed out 'are you out of your mind?!' So I'll go with a no.
10// What is your favorite cereal? I don't love cereal, because I don't drink milk. BUT if I had to choose, it would probably be fruit loops. Like a toddler.
11// Do you untie your shoes when you take them off? never.
12// Do you think you are strong? Only when I'm screaming out my car window at dumbass drivers. 'Move over idiot or I'll beat the shit out of you!'.
13// What is your favorite ice cream? chocolate.
14// What is the first thing you notice about other people? how they tip/treat their servers at a restaurtant. it says everything you need to know about a person.

15// Red or pink? pink.
16// What is your least favorite thing about yourself? I procrastinate and get super lazy a lot of the time. Working on changing that though!
17// Any tattoos?  One. Which I regret. On my left hipbone. Which is now in a cute zigzag pattern from my c-section. Oh, to be 18 again....
18// Do you have any hobbies? you're reading it!
19// What color shoes are you wearing? white flip flops. i really jazzed myself up today.
20// What was the last thing you ate? a lean cuisine pizza. i figured 9 months was my limit on saying 'what fat? i just had a baby!'. time to lose the weight.
21// What are you listening to right now? The pitter-patter of baby hands and toes hitting the floor.
22// If you were a crayon, what color would you be? macaroni & cheese. that was my favorite in the big 64 pack. #fatty
23// Favorite smells? fresh linen, garlic powder (it calms me! I know, Freak!) & Chanel.
24// Who was the last person you talked to on the phone? billy. he had to take a popsicle stick smothered with dog crap into the vet today. Naturally, I wanted to know how it went. We live a glamorous life, kids!
25// Mountain hideaway or beach house? Both sound so fantastic right now.
26// Favorite sport to watch? basketball. we frequent the magic games and they are always so fun!

27// Hair color? brownish. But I'm considering a change.
28// Eye colors? Blue/green depending on what I wear.
29// Do you wear contacts? Sometimes. Usually just glasses. But it's a goal to start wearing my contacts more.
30// Scary movies or happy endings? I'm a chicken shit. Happy ending for sure.
31// Last movie you watched? Pitch perfect for the 100th time. Acca-scuse me?!

32// What color shirt are you wearing? black, with a bright pink scarf
33// Summer or winter? can't I say fall? because if it were fall all year long, I would be the happiest girl.
34// Hugs or kisses? hugs. hugs cure everything. unless we are talking about baby kisses.
35// Computer or television? i like to compute while i televise. & just incase i don't have enough technology sucking away my brain cells, i always have my iPhone on hand.
36// What book are you reading right now? ugh. i wish i were reading one. honestly, when i have time to read, i read blogs. the ones i read are so entertaining and zone me out of my life for a few minutes.
37// What’s on your mouse pad? nothing. it is just black. i like simple things. sometimes.
38// What color is your house? an unattractive dirty sewer water type of color. & if it didn't cost 40 billion dollars to paint a house. i would.
39// What color is your car? right now? she looks like a dalmatian. white with black mud, rain and bird poop spots. just keepin' it real. homegirl needs a bath!
well, that was mildy entertaining!
& also... have you guys noticed all the changes that were made to Baby A and Mama J over the weekend? I took my Sunday morning and did a little redesigning and getting my feet wet with HTML coding, again.
Aside from the pretty colors and new logo, feast your eyes on my new social media buttons on my sidebar. you can click on any of those and it will take you to all of my social media accounts where you can follow, tweet, like and what not.

thanks for sticking around til the end of this completely useless, sorry excuse for a post ;) its tuesday & i'm hoping i get can a full tank of gas today without getting into a boxing match with another bee.

twins.

twins was the name of the game yesterday
I decided that I needed blackmail pictures of Abigail for when she grows up.
What's worse than a picture of your mom matching your outfits together?
Yeah, not much

Our weekend was pretty laid back, which was MUCH needed after a week of all three of us battling colds. While Billy figures out his new work schedule, he was home a lot more this weekend which was SO nice!

Abigail is completely captivated by Billy when he plays guitar. I think I need to learn how to play, just for the times when I'm at a loss for what to do when she is going batshit crazy & Billy isn't home.

I made separate batches of cupcakes on both Saturday and Sunday. One batch for Billy's coworkers (you're welcome, guys ;) ) & one for the Superbowl party we were attending (& the leftovers ended up at Billy's work on Monday. Do you guys love me yet?)

I had the best, cutest sous chef hanging out with me in the kitchen while I was baking all the goods. While she didn't get to taste the delicious concoctions, she did have a blast sticking her toes in the flour.

I made a batch of Valentine cupcakes & then decorated some football cupcakes for the big long, boring, uneventful, commercial sucking game.

We had such a nice weekend filled with lots of relaxation & the greatest friends.
What a bummer that Monday came flying around the corner way faster than any of us would have liked complete with me driving to a gas station and getting attacked by a bee while pumping my car. I got to $16.42 until the bee won and made me get back in my car and leave.
