Memorial Day Weekend

I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend! Ours went by in a flash!
We started the weekend off with no plans and ended up having one of the most relaxing weekends we've had in months!

But let's start with Friday.

Friday I picked up Abigail from daycare and immediately saw that she was coming down with something. Her nose was running and she just looked rough. We went home and did our usual Friday night thing.. dinner, bath, PJs, bed at 7pm... except bed was NOT on Abigail's agenda. The below photo was taken at 9:46pm. Girl hasn't seen anything past 9pm since she was 5 weeks old! But she did sleep until almost 10am on Saturday morning which was fantastic!

We mostly just hung out around the house on Saturday, I went for pedicures with my mom and sister and after Billy went to work at 3pm, I got ready for a night out with my family!
The night took us to a work event for my dad at the New Smyrna Speedway for some car racing and ended with a serious throwback dance party in the car on the way home. There's a video, but it will never see the light of day, I promise ;)

Again, having no plans for the long weekend we really just did whatever we felt like when the time came. My parents were heading over to a family friends house who lives on a beautiful lake, so we decided to join them! We timed it just right so that when we got there, it was time for Abigail's nap, which she took for 3 HOURS(!!!) and Mama got some serious sun in.

Girl was ready to party after her epic nap :)
And after getting stuck on a giant raft for upwards of an hour and a half, I'm rocking a serious sunburn today. Yes, I used sunscreen. Yes, it all washed off and I had no way to get more. Yes, I'm in a lot of pain. Moving on..

Monday we hung out at my parents house/pool all day, except I stayed under the patio the entire time and acted like a vampire every time the sun hit any part of my body. I cheered myself up with fruity, frozen cocktails.

Abigail ate homemade ice cream...

& licked the bowl..

It really was such a nice, relaxing weekend. Sometimes having NO plans is the best!

I'm hoping to be back with another post this week, but I leave for a Savannah, GA vacation on Thursday (sans Abigail) and a to do list a mile long, so we'll see!

XO!

Life Lately

It has been an eventful couple of weeks around here and I'm bringing you a quick little recap of it all today!

I celebrated my 29th birthday with dinner & Cirque Du Soleil! It was a great night!

We celebrated Mother's Day at my parents house with brunch and a pool day at my sisters house!

On her birthday eve as I was getting her in her PJs, she looked up at me and said 'Hold me like a baby, mama?' and it was exactly what my heart needed. So I held her like I used to when she was itty bitty, rocked her and sang her 'Happy Birthday'.

Sleepy eyes and a tutu is what we sent her to school with on her birthday ;)

We showed up around 2pm armed with balloons and cupcakes for her whole class! They sang her 'Happy Birthday' and danced around the room! The smile on my girls face made getting put on lockdown at the school because of ole George Zimmerman totally worth it.

And later on that night, my whole family, all 12 of us, went to dinner and had cake to celebrate all three of the birthday girls! It's always a busy week with all of the celebrations we have, but always so much fun!

My dad came over and put up my new, beautiful birthday present! I've been wanting a wall-leaning gigantic mirror for a long time and my parents gifted it to me for my birthday!

By now, you've probably read all about Abigail's 2nd birthday Flamingo Fiesta (if not, click here) so we will skip over that and jump right to the Sunday after her party.
It was struggle city for most of us so we spent the day relaxing by the pool and sweating out our hangovers ;)

She looks like such a grown up in this picture and it makes me so sad.
Where did my little baby go?!

This was my view for most of the afternoon & it was absolutely perfect :)

Ok, now we are all caught up and I get can back to real time blogging!
I'll be back next week with a full long weekend recap and an update on Abigail now that she is TWO!

Have a great weekend, y'all!
XO!

Flamingo Fiesta! -- Abigail's 2nd Birthday Party.

It's been a hot minute since I've logged onto the blog. Sorry y'all! It's been a super busy couple of weeks! I'll be back later on in the week with a life update but today I wanted to share all the details from Abigail's 2nd birthday party!

Caution: Seriously picture heavy post!

The theme was a Flamingo Fiesta & it was a total blast!!
I found yard Flamingos at Home Depot and used them for both indoor and outdoor decorations.
The tissue paper tassel garland, I made using paper from Target & Michaels.
We used our Flora & the Flamingo book as a guest book for everyone to leave birthday wishes for Abigail.
Both garlands are from Target & are super affordable, I just intertwined them.
Smaller flamingos found here.
Flamingo straw sippy cups were from The Dollar Store (!!! my excitement could not be contained when I found them!)
I made two types of Pink Lemonade.. one spiked, one not ;)
I baked a four layer, chocolate & vanilla cake and used a flamingo cookie cutter & a whole lot of sprinkles as the decoration! I may or may not be absolutely and completely obsessed with the way it turned out.
I also made 48 mini cupcakes for people to snack on in case Abigail spit all over her cake blowing out the candles ;)
Bubbles & spray chalk were used as party favors.
We kept the food relatively simple.
But the biggest hit of all were these....
FLAMINGO MELONS!

Now onto the actual party pictures..
If you zoom in, you'll see a slightly disturbing face in the reflection of the mirror (Hi Dad!)
I should also explain that we had a face painter at the party. & a GIANT inflatable waterslide. & a cotton candy machine. It was almost a circus & I totally loved it!
Best friends!
The days leading up to the party, the weather called for thunderstorms all day & just overall nasty rain. We weren't going to let that ruin the day, but were so happy when the sun decided to do nothing but shine all day!
The giant waterslide was SO much fun and such a hit!
This mama most definitely went down in all my clothes towards the end of the party. #spikedlemonade
Yeah... can you find my kids foot in that splash!?
Don't worry, she totally loved it and her grampy took great care of her :)
I decorated the wall behind the gift table with pictures of Abigail from her first birthday through her second into the shape of the word TWO. This was a total bitch to do and I had every intention (& the extra pictures!) to make the actual number 2 as well, but it didn't happen. And I'm not that bummed about it.
We didn't open gifts until the next morning because the party carried over until after midnight, oops! But this little one got completely spoiled by all of the people who love her the most!
& if you follow me on Instagram (@jenniferhuff13) or Facebook, you can check out her reaction to one of her gifts. I can't believe what she said!
This is how I found her at 10am eating her banana, completely pooped.

Sunday was a struggle for all of us ;)
I seriously don't remember having this much fun at a party.... maybe ever!? And I'm not just saying that because I poured my heart and soul into it!

Happy 2nd Birthday, my sweet baby girl!
I love you so much!!

Karma - The Birthday Edition

Here's the story of the time karma kicked me square in the ass....

From the time I popped out of my mother, I have always loved my birthday. I'm not ashamed to admit that it is my absolute favorite day of the year! I love the random phone calls throughout the day, I love the text messages, the inevitable phone call at 6am from my parents to sing to me.. I love it all!
And again, from the time I popped out of my mother, I have always given her shit for having me 4 days before HER birthday and the same week as Mother's Day.
Every year, I would complain that we had to celebrate all three occasions together in the same day. Mom always outnumbered me because after all, she got her birthday AND Mothers Day to celebrate. I was a spoiled brat about it and I can fully admit to that.

And then I got pregnant...

At our first appointment, after hearing the heartbeat, my doctor estimated the baby's due date. The minute he said 'May 15th', I just started laughing.

My whole family joked about the due date my entire pregnancy, wondering which day Abigail would actually make her appearance.

My birthday, May 7th came and went. And then after 12 hours of labor, I had my baby girl four days after my birthday...May 11th 2013. Also known as, my mother's birthday. The next day was Mother's Day that year.

That my friends, is karma.

Let it be known that I do still love my birthday. And I have big plans for it this year. But I love Abigail's WAY more! And now I know how annoying I was to my mom for 27 years.

Low Key/Potty Training Weekend

We kept things pretty low key this weekend, due to the start of some serious potty training!

After a morning full of sitting on the bathroom floor, we threw on a pull-up and headed out the door to a Cinco Dos de Mayo party! Abigail was a happy camper, playing with her best friend all afternoon and mommy got some adult interaction ;)

We hunkered down on Sunday and didn't leave the house in order to give us a full day of potty training.

I'm happy to report that Abigail is doing great! She is a pro at using the potty if we sit her on it, but she didn't really know when she needed to tell me that she needed to go. But after a full day of asking every 10 minutes, she got the hang of it. I only had to clean up one puddle of pee and was able to give her lots of special treats that I've been stashing away for this day.

Sticker earrings were in the bin of prizes ;)

By 6pm, if I had said the words 'pee pee', 'poo poo', or 'potty' one more time, I was going to bash my head through the sliding glass door. So I put Abigail to bed early and poured myself a much needed bottle glass of wine.

I sent her to school this morning without a diaper or pull-up on and so far, she has only changed shorts once. Which occurred while all the kids were on the playground.
Moral of the story, tell your kids not to play with mud ;)

I wish I could say I have some grand potty training advice, but I don't. Abigail is a fluke. A rare gem. And I'm positive my next child will be in diapers until they are 17.

Happy Monday!
XO!
