Currently I'm...

I had another post going for tonight, but got REAL bored with it and found this fun survey instead. So this is what's happening, I'll save the Life Lately one hundred photos of my child post for tomorrow, maybe. Until then..

Currently I'm...

Throwing a tantrum over: What seems to be, everything breaking around me. My cable and Internet over the weekend, my phone keeps shitting out on me... OK, so maybe only things made by AT&T are breaking, but I'm still crying about it. (Dad, I can feel you rolling your eyes at me right now, after listening to my sob story on the phone for way longer than you anticipated.)

Reading: I just finished 'What Alice Forgot' by Liane Moriarty. I've read two others by her and loved them, but this one wasn't my favorite. I ended up having to listen to it on Audible while I was driving, because I couldn't bring myself to sit down and actually read. Amazon just delivered 'The Kind Worth Killing' by Peter Swanson to my doorstep today, so I'll keep ya posted.

Listening to: Kelsea Ballerini. Every song. Don't even get me started on my full blown concert-like performances in the car. I'm embarrassing and I make no apologies. Except to Abigail when she's like, 12. #isittoolatenowtosaysorry

Thinking: that I need to wash my hair. I like to have competitions with myself, to see how long I can go before I start looking like Bob Marley. Usually when people start asking if I dyed my hair lighter is my cue wash it... because that dry shampoo life gets me every time.

Looking forward to: Waking up tomorrow and not having to work in an office. Or wear pants. I was made to work from home.

Drinking: Nothing. But only because I'm seriously concerned that I'm drowning my insides with hot green tea on the daily. And because I'm out of wine. (I don't know when this post will go up, but please know it is currently 8:30pm and a totally acceptable time to be drinking wine. Although, I'm not above morning day drinking either. Do you, girl!)

Daydreaming about: the homemade ranch dressing I made for dinner tonight. I think I need to change my 'drinking' answer.. and find a straw. #i'mdisgusting

Wanting: for Ben the Bachelor to stop all the kissing on TV. It makes me crawl under the covers uncomfortable. I also want more Lace & mouth girl! Anyone still with me?... Anyone?

Feeling: like a winner. Because I got a Jeopardy question right tonight. And it wasn't teen or kid night.

Wearing: a huge sweatshirt, workout pants (I did not workout today) and socks with bacon and eggs on them. I know guys, you're like so jealous of my life, right?!

Because what better way to end a post than with a picture of my feet wearing bacon and eggs socks... This is life & I'm totally nailing it.

Goals & Resolutions - 2016

Let's talk resolutions, shall we?
I used to be the girl that would only set resolutions focused around weight and food. 'Lose 15 pounds this year'. 'Eat clean 80% of the time'. And I've never stuck with any of them. I don't think they were realistic for me and after the first month, I would get discouraged and quit. For the past few years I've taken a different approach; not setting any goals at all. However, I still wasn't happy with that. So as the new year was approaching I thought a lot about things I wanted to focus on for 2016. Below are some of the things I came up with.

- Live with simplicity. As most of you know, we sold our first house almost a year ago. Since then, we've rented a house close to my parents, which has been great. About a month ago, we received notice that the owner of the home wanted to sell and that we would need to leave at the end of our lease. This left a lot of room for decisions. Buy a house even though we aren't sure where we want to plant our roots yet? Do we try and find another house to rent in the area, even though it hasn't been the easiest thing to deal with this past year? Neither of those sounded like good options to us, so we took a step back and decided to significantly downsize and rent an apartment while we look for our dream home. What does that mean? Well, we are only moving the necessities this time around. We have started to clean out boxes that have been moved from house to house and not looked at for years. We've donated bags and bags of things that we haven't touched this past year. And we've sold furniture that we weren't emotionally attached to. And guess what, guys?! I'm actually pretty excited about it! I'm excited for small and cozy for a while. I'm excited about saving (a ton of!!) money and if you can't tell by now, I love change; so I'm pumped for new scenery and a new place to decorate! So for 2016 we are learning to live in a smaller space, getting creative with storage and enjoying each others company, rather than playing in separate ends of the house. This could all change a month after we move though, so check back for my attitude around April ;)

- Have something to look forward to every month. These things don't have to be big, but they have to be significant. So often I think we go from day to day, month to month and forget to make memories and live. I don't want that to happen in 2016. We are taking a small winter-weather trip in a week and a half, have a fun show to go see ( & a move!) in February, a Disney vacation in April... so, we are off to a good start!

- Adventures over things. I feel like this goal ties in to both of my others. Instead of buying material things or gifts, I want to spend our money on memories and adventures. Go and explore (this doesn't mean go broke.)! I love finding new things to do in our city that have been here and we never knew about.

- Practice patience. Any other mamas out there lose their shit one too many times in a day and sit back at the end of the night, after the kids have gone to bed and think you could have handled it a little better? Held your crap together a little bit longer? Yelled a little bit less? Or understood that they are just little kids a little bit more? Billy's work schedule means I am on my own a lot. There are a lot of long days, that turn into long nights. There is no 'oh he'll be home at 5pm and I'll get a break'. He works 9am-9pm (roughly...sometimes longer, usually never shorter) and on those long, long days I've been trying to make a conscience effort to take a step back when I'm losing my cool with Abigail and remembering that she's only two. 2016 will be the year of things getting a little dirtier, one more lap around the neighborhood on her motorcycle and maybe a few nights of staying up way past our bedtimes ;)

So, now that I've talked your ears (eyes?) off, what are your goals/resolutions for twenty-sixteen?

Christmas 2015 & New Years 2016

Happy 2016, my sweet friends!

Fun fact - for my job, I am always working for/in the next year, so saying it is officially 2016 isn't all that weird to me. I've been typing and saying 2016 for the past 8 months!

Anyways, I haven't been on to give an update on our Christmas and New Years, so get ready for a picture overload! We had a great couple of weeks and are definitely sad that it is coming to an end!

2016 is going to be a year of definite change for us. Starting next Monday, I will begin working from home full time and no longer go to an office everyday (I'll get into more detail later, if anyone is interested) and then come February we will be moving into an apartment while we search for our dream home! We received notice about 3 weeks ago that the owners of our rental home are selling it, so we are getting the boot! But that's ok! We are excited and I will talk about it more in my next post, which will be all about my resolutions for 2016!

Ok, now that we have all of that information out of the way, lets recap the last couple of weeks!

I did a lot of baking this Christmas and the biggest hit was this 'Christmas Crack' recipe from Jenny Cookies. It was so, so good! And if you don't already follow her, you're seriously missing out. She is every party-planner/baker/jadeite collectors dream!
Our silly little elf on his last night at the house... Abigail loved that he was having a donut and milk party ;)
Our family doesn't have any traditions for Christmas Eve, other than just hanging out at my parents house, playing games and just being together. No set dinner, no places to be... we all love it and it's so relaxing. So Abigail and I did a lot of laying on the couch, watching PJ Masks and cuddling.

Christmas Eve night, after Santa came ;)
Santa brought Abigail a chalkboard easel (which mama gave a makeover) and a little red wagon (because she kept asking for a red toy and I was at a loss). She was so, so excited!
Closing her eyes for her surprises.

Once we are done with Christmas at our individual houses, we all meet up at  my parents house to do Christmas over there. They always go above and beyond and as the kids get older, it just gets more fun. We spend the entire day over there, in PJS, with drinks and lots of food. It's really always such a perfect day.

Santa also showed up to my parents house and brought all of us wiz/hover/death trap boards. The good news is I haven't fallen off again and no ones house has caught on fire.

A couple months back, my parents were talking to Abigail about what she wanted for Christmas, and out of no where she told them she wanted a pink motorcycle. And I'm pretty sure they went home that night and found her a pink motorcycle!
My niece and nephew got a huge playset for Christmas, so we headed over there the day after so Abigail could play with them. She loved it!

She loved it so much, in order to get her inside, we had to bribe her with dressing up with her cousin as Elsa and Anna.

I had the rest of the week off of work and spent it decluttering our house, putting Christmas away and running errands that I had been putting off. Nothing too exciting, but much needed.

My parents had a New Years Eve pool party because #Florida which was so nice! When I picked Abigail up from daycare that day she was so excited and said 'is it time to party yet?!'.

And we spent New Years Day back in the pool and eating hashbrowns...because resolutions should really start on the 2nd, don't ya think??

And that catches us up. I was quite honestly so distracted while writing this post that I don't even know if it makes any sense and am too lazy to go back and proofread. That's what happens when you haven't worked in two weeks and you are getting ready for the last Monday in an actual office!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Years and that 2016 is off to a great start! As I said before, I'll be back soon with some new year thoughts and resolutions of sorts!

XO!
